Description
A lovely Red-spotted Purple butterfly rests on my shoe. Shown with Bible verse Psalm 119:105.
Psalm 119 is the longest Psalm (song) and longest chapter of the Bible.
vs 105
Your word is a lamp for my feet,
a light on my path.
106
I have taken an oath and confirmed it,
that I will follow your righteous laws.
107
I have suffered much;
preserve my life, Lord, according to your word.
108
Accept, Lord, the willing praise of my mouth,
and teach me your laws.
109
Though I constantly take my life in my hands,
I will not forget your law.
110
The wicked have set a snare for me,
but I have not strayed from your precepts.
111
Your statutes are my heritage forever;
they are the joy of my heart.
112
My heart is set on keeping your decrees
to the very end.
Wikipedia: Red-spotted Purple (Limenitis arthemis) is a polytypic species of North American brush-footed butterfly, common throughout much of the eastern United States. L. a. astyanax has red spots on its underside and the top of the wings are notable for their iridescent blue markings. L. a. arthemis on the other hand has a large white band traversing both the forewings and hindwings.
Distribution map of Limenitis arthemis. The red shows the range of L. a. arthemis; the orange L. a. astyanax; the green L. a. arizonansis; and the yellow shows where the ranges of L. a arthemis and L. a. astyanax overlap.
The Red-spotted Purple is a mimic of the poisonous Pipevine Swallowtail (Battus philenor) and is typically found in open woodlands and along forest edges.
