Cherry is a three year old Rhodebar hen shown in soft lighting and background textures.
Rhodebars are a rare utility bird originating from the UK known for their versatile egg and meat use, hens laying anywhere from 180 - 200 eggs per year. They are an economical choice for breeding in that chicks can easily be sexed by their markings from birth. Females have chipmunk stripes while males are yellow with a light colored to white spot on top of their heads. Rhodebars are full breasted, broad and long bodied, have deep reddish coloring with fine buff barring, single upright comb, rounded wattles, short beak, yellow legs and feet with 4 toes. Low stocks can easily be increased by putting male Rhodebars with female utility Rhode Island Reds, then taking the offspring from them and breading back to the originating rooster.
Photographer drawn to nature, survivor of polio and breast cancer, expressing gifts in a spiritual and colorful sense providing healing focus for self as well as viewer. Background studies from a quaint art studio in small town Tennessee (oils and acrylics), Accounting at Columbia State Community College, Modeling - print and commercial work in the early 80's, and Real-estate investing of older craftsman style homes in the 90's. Photography is the perfect marriage of nature's endless scenes, aging structures, the wonder of water, and the joy of creating!
